The Naga Self-Administered Zone (Burmeseနာဂ ကိုယ္ပိုင္အုပ္ခ်ဳပ္ခြင့္ရေဒသ [nàɡa̰ kòbàɪɴ ʔoʊʔtɕʰoʊʔ kʰwɪ̰ɴja̰ dèθa̰]), as stipulated by the 2008 Constitution of Myanmar,[2] is a self-administered zone consisting of three townships in the Sagaing Region:[3]
Those three townships were administratively part of Hkamti District.[3] Its official name was announced by decree on 20 August 2010.[4][5] The zone is to be self-administered by the Naga people. Its administrative seat is the town of Lahe.[5]
In August 2016, an outbreak of measles caused the deaths of 44 children.[6][7] The outbreak may have been caused by lack measles vaccination because of the poor health infrastructure.[8] The Naga people in Myanmar are mainly Christian like their people in India, but one-third of them practice Theravada Buddhism.[9]
